1. Information We Collect
When you create a StudyGrill account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored securely using bcrypt hashing). When you use our tools, we process uploaded files (PDFs, documents, audio, video, images) and the text you paste. We also collect usage data, browser type, IP address, and session cookies to improve our services and prevent abuse.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to: provide AI-powered study and research tools, personalise your dashboard and recommendations, send account notifications and product updates (you can opt out anytime), process payments securely via Stripe, and comply with legal obligations. We do not use your uploaded content to train our AI models.
3. FERPA Compliance
StudyGrill is committed to compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). We treat all student educational records with the strictest confidentiality and do not disclose personally identifiable information from educational records without explicit consent, except as required by law.
4. Data Security
All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3 and at rest using AES-256 encryption. We use Supabase's enterprise-grade security infrastructure. Uploaded files are processed and stored in encrypted cloud storage. Files you do not save to your account are automatically deleted within 24 hours of processing.
5. Cookies & Tracking
We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We use analytics cookies (with your consent) to understand how StudyGrill is used and improve the platform. You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings at any time.
6. Third-Party Services
StudyGrill integrates with: Google AI (Gemini API) for content generation — Google AI Privacy Policy applies; Supabase for database and authentication; Stripe for payment processing — Stripe Privacy Policy applies; and Google Analytics (with consent). We carefully vet all third-party processors for security and privacy compliance.
7. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
You have the right to: access all personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate data; delete your account and all associated data; export your data in a portable format; object to or restrict processing; and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, visit your Settings page or contact us.
8. Data Retention
Account data is retained while your account is active. After account deletion, personal data is removed within 30 days. Aggregated, anonymised analytics data may be retained longer for service improvement purposes.
9. Children's Privacy
StudyGrill is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us immediately.
